Don’t be ashamed to need help. Like a soldier storming a wall, you have a mission to accomplish. And if you’ve been wounded and you need a comrade to pull you up? So what?
Marcus Aurelius
Everyone has a goal, and we should approach it as if it is our mission. If we have this mission to accomplish then of course we should accept help. In America “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” has become something to take pride in. But really does anyone do it on their own? Not really, it is just what we like to see and admire.
One thing that drives me crazy about modern rap music is the common theme in lyrics of “I got successful by myself and no one helped me.” Well even if the person was born with no support system at some point someone did in fact help them. Whether by the rap industry that was in place for them to take part in or their fans that cheered them on. No one gets where they want to be by themselves.
If Marcus Aurelius, the most powerful person on earth at his time, saw the value of other’s help and accepted it so can you. Lean on each other and hold each other accountable today. If you haven’t seen a friend in the gym lately text him or her today and see why!
